Calcium Isotopic Anomalies in the Allende Meteorite
نویسنده
چکیده
We report isotopic anomalies inCa which were found in two Ca-Al-rich inclusions of the Allende meteorite. These inclusions previously had been shown to contain special anomalies for Mg and 0 which were attributed to fractionation and unknown nuclear effects. The Ca data when corrected for mass fractionation by using 4°Ca; 44Ca as a standard show nonlinear isotopic ~ffects in 48Ca of + 13.5 per mil ~nd in 42Ca of ~ 1. 7 per mil for one sample: The second sample shows a 48Ca depletion of 2.~ per mil, but all other Isotopes are normal. Samples with large excesses in 26Mg show no Ca anomahes,. The effects demonstr.ate that isotopic anomalies exist for higher-atomic-number refractory elements m ~olar-system matenals and do not appear to be readily explainable by a simple model. rr:he ~orrelation of 0, Mg, and Ca results on the same inclusions requires the addition and preservatiOn m the solar system of components from diverse nucleosynthetic sources. Nuclear-and Astrophysical Interpretation of the Ca-ti-cr Isotopic Anomalies in the Inclusion Ek 1-4-1 of the Allende-meteorite
In the framework of our investigation to explain the nucleosynthetic origin of the correlated Ca-Ti-Cr Isotopic Anomalies in the refractory inclusion EK 1-4-1 of the Allende Meteorite,-decay properties and deformation of the nuclear shape as well as neutron capture cross sections of neutron-rich isotopes in the N=28 region have been determined. These nuclear data are important input parameters ...
متن کاملBarium and Neodymium Isotopic Anomalies in the Allende Meteorite
Isotopic anomalies have been found for Ba and Nd in two inclusions from the Allende meteorite. These inclusions are typical Ca-Al-rich objects associated with early condensates from the solar nebula but have distinctive O and Mg isotopic anomalies of the FUN type. Sample Cl shows a depletion only in Ba of 2 parts in 10 and normal Nd. Sample EK1-4-1 shows large positive excesses in the unshielde...
متن کاملAllende meteorite: Isotopically anomalous xenon is accompanied by normal osmium.
The (184)Os/(190)Os ratio of six Allende meteorite samples was determined by neutron activation analysis. Four chromite concentrates gave a ratio differing from the terrestrial ratio by only -0.1 +/- 0.4%, although they contained highly anomalous xenon enriched by up to 67% in (124)Xe and 93% in (136)Xe. In view of this result and the normal isotopic composition of carbon and oxygen in these fr...
متن کاملOn the Origin of the Ca-ti-cr Isotopic Anomalies in the Inclusion Ek-1-4-1 of the Allende-meteorite
In the framework of our investigation to explain the nucleosynthetic origin of the correlated Ca-Ti-Cr isotopic anomalies in the Ca-Al-rich "FUN" inclusion EK-1-4-1 of the Allende meteorite, the nuclear-physics basis in the neutron-rich N = 28 region has been updated by including recent experimental data on-decay properties and microscopic predictions of neutron-capture cross sections. Abundances. of the titanium isotopes were determined using a new high-precision technique that s~ows. terrestnal, lunar, an~ bulk meteorite samples to be indistinguishable. Ca-Al-Ti-rich inclusiOn~ m the Allende meteonte are found to contain Ti of widely varying isotopic composition reflectl.ng the :presence of at least three nucleosyJ?-thetic components. The anomalies in Ti appear to be rel!l-...
